A clear first step
A TCM consultation is an opportunity to discuss your concerns in context. The practitioner may ask about the main issue, daily routines, sleep, appetite, digestion, existing diagnoses, current medicines and previous treatment.
What may happen during the visit
- Discussion of your current concerns and goals.
- Review of relevant health history, medicines and supplements.
- TCM observation and assessment, which may include the tongue and pulse.
- Explanation of possible service or product options.
- Discussion of fees, expected process and important precautions before you decide.
What to bring
Bring relevant medical reports when available, along with a current list of prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, Chinese medicines and supplements. Tell the practitioner about pregnancy, allergies, bleeding conditions, implanted devices and ongoing hospital care.
Good consultation means honest limits
Not every concern is suitable for TCM services, and individual responses vary. The clinic should not promise a cure, a fixed recovery percentage or a guaranteed number of sessions.
